As usual they have left out opening hours for their 3-day After Thanksgiving Sale. Last year stores opened at 6am, an hour earlier than previous years. Although this is a 3-day sale all items are limited to what your local store has in-stock.
In an official release, posted during the wee hours of October 31st, Walmart stores announced they are kicking off the month of November with more than 20,000 rollbacks on popular items such as Disney's Frozen merchandise, brands like Samsung and Dell, and even grocery items. The discounting will begin both in stores and online on November 1st and ramp up on the 3rd, when they will be launching a 24-hour holiday cyber savings event.
In-store rollbacks starting November 1st will include (but are not limited to):
Walmart.com will be offering deals that are typically reserved for Black Friday and Cyber Monday for a 24-hour period starting shortly after midnight on November 3rd! Just a few of the cyber-specials included in this event are:
Walmart has also announced that more items will be eligible for their Savings Catcher program. This program makes price matching easier for shoppers by having them scan their Walmart receipt's barcode (or enter the receipt number) into either the Savings Catcher website or the Walmart mobile app. If any items on the receipt are found for a cheaper price at a local store, the shoppers will receive a Walmart eGift card for the difference in price. Starting November 2nd, holiday turkeys and hams will be eligible for Savings Checker, allowing customers to know they've gotten the absolute best price on their Thanksgiving dinner.
For the last few years, we've seen the opening hours for Black Friday sales go from early in the morning to early in the week - is this a trend that can save the perceived threat that Black Friday will overtake family time on Thanksgiving Day? Let us know what you think of "Black November" in the comments below, and stay tuned right here for the Walmart Black Friday 2014 Adscans that surely must be coming soon!
As you can probably tell this is not the finished ad, but a work in progress. The pricing is likely to change, so we just assume that the pricing is incorrect. The big news is their store hours, and general approach to Black Friday 2014. As you can see at the top of the ad in a nice bright red circle is "Thanksgiving Sale," a way to double up on the approach some retailers are taking to trumpet family values by staying closed on Thanksgiving Day. Not only will True Value not be open on Thanksgiving, but they are having a Thanksgiving Sale, not a Black Friday sale. They even discuss the "value of family time" in the bottom left corner of the ad (although it's very hard to read in this leaked pre-release).
Whatever they are choosing to call it, True Value is starting their Black Friday 2014 sale on Wednesday, and they will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving. We know they will be open and running deals on Black Friday as part of their Thanksgiving Day Sale because the 50% Off Coupon is valid on Friday. We believe that the coupon in the bottom center area of the ad, good for half off one item priced $50 or less, will remain in the final version. The ad also appears to hint at deals on Saturday, inviting you to "shop small."
We're still adding in prizes for a couple dates, but our prize total is already over $20,000 and includes DSLR cameras, iPod Touch, headphones, Fitbits, video game consoles, tablets, laptops, $2,500 in gift cards and much more!
All daily give-aways end at 11:59:59pm CST. You only need to enter the November Holiday Give-Away Contest once and you will be eligible for every daily give-away. Limit 1 entry per person. We will be monitoring for multiple entries, so please enter only once.
You can earn additional entries each day by sharing our contest with all your friends on social media, or simply commenting below. We'll randomly select a winner at 5PM CST on November 4th, and notify them via email before announcing them on our social media pages.
The Associated Press is reporting that Walmart, which has always matched the price of its brick and mortar rivals, is testing the waters of online price matching ahead of the Black Friday 2014 season. According to the Wall Street Journal, the retail giant began online price matching in five markets last month: Atlanta, Charlotte, North Carolina, Dallas, Phoenix, and northwest Arkansas. Currently, about 60% of Walmart's revenues are generated in physical store locations, but those stores have not reported growth in six straight quarters.
This experiment comes on the heels of other retailer related news, specifically regarding Kmart and Target. The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Kmart is closing additional stores so that they can "focus our investments on serving our customers and members through integrated retail - at the store, online and in the home."
With the influx of cash from liquidated inventories, and hopefully from real estate transactions, Kmart may be transforming itself as an online retailer. Retail sales this quarter are projected to grow between 8 and 11 percent.
Considering the implications of these announcements, and the success of Amazon.com, it comes as no surprise that Walmart is trying to position itself to be more competitive in the online marketplace.
The question remains, will Walmart expand online price matching in time for Black Friday 2014? Will we shortly be receiving news that Walmart will also offer free shipping? Exciting things are happening, and you can bet that BFAds.net will be watching these trends carefully

If you love to shop online, Black Friday pricing starts now! Popular online merchant Amazon.com has announced a November 1st start date for more than 15,000 Lightning Deals they plan to offer throughout the holiday shopping season. According to their press release, there will be discounts on Disney Princess toys, tools, cookware sets and more.
The best deals available on the site will be listed on Amazon's "Black Friday Deals" page. They are already populating the offerings there, so be sure to check early and often for the items on your wishlist! If you're lacking inspiration for your holiday shopping, be sure to check out their Gift Finder, which helps you narrow down popular merchandise by age, gender, and budget.
As we announced earlier this month, Amazon Prime Members will have early access to some of these lightning deals. As of yesterday, we now know that there will be TWO Deals of the Day, every day, through December 22!
We have several new confirmed Black Friday 2014 store opening times for you!
According to a Business Wire Press Release on their RSS feed, Kohl's will be opening their Black Friday festivities at 6PM on Thanksgiving day, joining other major retailers as we reported here, here, and here.
Stage's Black Friday adscan lists their opening times as 4PM on Thanksgiving, which is the earliest opening we have seen printed on an ad so far. Kmart is likely to take the cake with their rumored 6AM Thursday opening.
"At GameStop we often use the phrase 'protect the family' in reference to our business. A large part of what that means to us is to not open any of our GameStop, SimplyMac, Spring Mobile or Cricket Wireless U.S. locations on Thanksgiving Day out of respect for our store associates and their families and friends. We believe it's the right decision not only for our employees, but also for our customers. Enjoy this time with your loved ones and we'll see you on Black Friday."
Yankee Candle's ad doesn't have a set time, and encourages shoppers to contact their local store for hours. A quick Google search came up with at least one store in Massachusetts that is closed on Thanksgiving, so checking with your store is important.
The New York Times is reporting that Lowe's will be leveraging social media site Vines.com to release Black Friday deal teasers. NYT also reports that Lowes will be opening at 5AM on Black Friday, and close at the regular time.
This is the earliest confirmed Black Friday start time we've seen yet! Stage will be unveiling the sale at 4:00 PM Thanksgiving night which is two hours earlier than last year. They will then stay open for nine hours until 1:00 AM, two hours longer than last year. They'll then reopen again at 6:00 AM on Black Friday.
The first fifty in line will receive a gift card for $10 to $100. As an added bonus they will also be offering a $10 voucher with $50+ spent from November 27th to December 2nd. The voucher can be redeemed from December 26th - January 31st. One lucky person per store will also receive Stage's employee discount for a full year!
Some stand outs we noticed on the front page are the lowest price on a 32" 720p HDTV we've seen this season yet at $99.99 and a Bella 12-cup programmable coffee maker for $5 less than the recent Best Buy deal of $15.00 but it requires a mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate also works for other Bella small appliances like a 5-qt. slow cooker, waffle maker and griddle making them $9.99 after all is said and done. The back of the ad features two coupons that are good for an "extra 25% off a single item" which unfortunately excludes doorbusters and other items.
One important thing to note is that Stage is sharing their ad with Bealls, Goody's, Palais Royals and Peebles. That is, all these stores have the exact same Black Friday ad. To prevent item duplication, we have only listed the items under Stage's store name.
While there is no exact opening date given, the ad says "Many stores open early!" Whenever your local store opens, shoppers receive a Fragrance Lovers Tote (worth $100) for $25 when they make any purchase.
This ad isn't particularly exciting, and isn't even offering the best Yankee Candle deals. The Yankee Candle Black Friday ad is offering Buy 2, Get 1 Free Holiday Candles. However, we found this coupon for Buy 2, Get 2 Free Candles. Not only is it a better deal, but you aren't just limited to holiday-themed scents! Add any 4 candles to your cart and use coupon code B14A to subtract the cost of two of them. Stock up on candles now, and avoid the Black Friday crowds!
Hopefully this is the trickle before the ad leak dam bursts! Keep checking back to see what else shows up!
We just got wind of the Best Buy Special Holiday Shopping Event! Starting November 8th at 1:00PM and running until 4:00PM at "select Best Buy stores" the brick and mortar sale has deals on Apple, Samsung, Microsoft and Sony products and features bundle deals on the Surface Pro 3, Keyboard and Office 365, Sony 55" 4K Ultra HDTV with Sony Playstation 4 and Xbox One Console with 12-Month Xbox Live membership card.
The Apple deals are for $50 gift cards with iPad Air or iPad Air 2 purchases and a $100 gift card for MacBook Air purchases. If Best Buy keeps a competitive price on the iPads and Macbooks we should see some great deals given the added gift card bonuses.
The deals we know about so far are:
$50 Gift Card with Purchase of iPad Air or iPad Air 2
$100 Gift Card with MacBook Air
Surface Pro 3 128GB, Keyboard and Microsoft Office 365 Combined Purchase - $1,099.99
Samsung 55" LED Back-lit LCD Smart HDTV - "Hot Price"
3x My Best Buy Points with Any Samsung Ultra HD Curved HDTV
Sony 55" LED Back-lit LCD 4K Ultra HDTV and Playstation 4 Combined Purchase - $2,799.99
Knack, MLB 14 The Show, Infamous: Second Son or Killzone: Shadow Fall $24.99
Free 12-Month Xbox Live Membership with Purchase of Xbox One Console
Microsoft is rumored to be dropping the prices across the board for Xbox One consoles to $349.00 or $449.00 for bundles starting November 2nd. This price drop combined with the free 12-month Xbox live membership with purchase of a Xbox One is the best no frills deals for an Xbox One console on the horizon that we've noticed. The Surface Pro 3 deal listed is lukewarm at best when compared to the recent Staples 20% off electronics in-store coupon offer.
Newegg, a prime purveyor of computers, electronics, and accessories, has announced via Business Wire press release that their "Black November" promotion will return for a 6th year.
"Black November is Newegg's way of rewarding its customers with deep discounts offered throughout the entire month of November," said Soren Mills, Chief Marketing Officer of Newegg North America. "We expect a strong holiday purchasing season and we're delivering a non-stop supply of great deals to meet that demand."
The highlight of the press release is the promise of exclusive deals on popular technology, automotive, sports, household and automotive products each week during November. Examples hand-picked by NewEgg include:
The press release also invites anyone in the Los Angeles area to celebrate Black Friday at the company's Hybrid Center on November 28 for "special on-site deals" and charitable opportunities. If you send us a picture of you in a BFAds T-shirt at the festivites, we`ll send you a shiny gift card. So in the event you're planning on attending, please let us know!
Belk's Black Friday sale starts at 6PM Thanksgiving Day, 2 hours earlier than last year, keeping in line with Best Buy, Walmart, and Macy's. The sale extends to 1PM on Friday.
Currently we are trying to optimize it but you can have a peek while we work! It features a lot of coupons and buy one get two free deals as well as a 250 person gift card giveaway at every store with prizes ranging from $5 - $1,000 with a guaranteed $1,000 gift card at every store!
Last year, we posted their item list on October 21st, so this year's leak is right on schedule. The actual Black Friday ad scan confirmed the respective item listings in 2011 and in 2013. It's safe to say that the 2014 item list can help you get a good idea of the deals to come.
As always, RadioShack stores' opening times depend entirely on their owners. We've received word that most franchise stores are leaning towards not opening on Thanksgiving. Of course, it's always a good idea to contact someone at your closest location to double check their Black Friday store hours.
The Black Friday Order Reference that we received states that Black Friday retail prices are listed on RadioShack exclusives because competitors can't react to items they don't carry. When it comes to the hotter, more coveted merchandise, RadioShack is keeping their cards close to their chest. They plan to competitively price those items closer to November 28th. We've only listed prices we can confirm, but will post updates as we receive more information.
We noticed that RadioShack listed their 2200mAh Lipstick Portable Power Banks in assorted colors on sale for $9.99, which is 50% off. The dealer cost for these is $6.83, so the retail markup on these is minimal. They'll be available in red, blue, black, or silver.
Probably the most notable concrete price we have so far is for the $4.99 Sandisk Cruzer 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drives. They are usually $29.99, and you can choose from blue, green, red, or black. If you're looking for some extra flash drives to have on hand, these will be available for cheap and are warrantied for 2 years.
While there aren't many items listed yet, this list gives us an idea of what is to come on November 28th. Expect to see deals on phone cases from RadioShack's own brand to the popular Otterbox. There are also dozens of headphones and several smartphones listed.
What electronics are on your shopping list this year? We'll keep our ears to the ground and be sure to let you know when we hear hot deals sizzling.
