Dell Vostro 1000 Laptop w/ 15.4" Screen for $399 at Dell
Sold out, congratulations for those who got in on the deal.
Friday, Nov 23 Update
Dell has put their Vostro 1000 laptop back on sale for $399 for a limited time only on Black Friday! The drawback is that the new Vostro 1000 has a less powerful processor than the original one. The new one has a Sempron 3600+ compared to the Athlon TK-53, which isn't a drastic change, but still a change.
If you are still interested in the Vostro 1000, you can order it right now for $399 w/ Free Shipping by following these steps:
- Click here to go to Dell Small Business
- In the Search box, type in bqdaiad and hit enter
- Click on the Vostro 1000 search result
- Do not modify any of the parts, just click "Buy Now" (the coupon is only good for one configuration, modifying any component will invalidate the coupon)
- Once it is done building your system, hit Add to Cart
- On the My Cart page, where it asks "enter coupon code" type in RH23N?MWL3KF1C and then click Apply Coupon
- If checkout asks you for a Business Name, enter BFAds
The original post, which is no longer valid, is below:
Dell has the Dell Vostro 1000 Dual Core Laptop w/ 1GB Memory and 15.4" Widescreen Display for $399 shipped right now. This laptop is probably the best deal you can get this Black Friday season without waiting in line for 6+ hours in the freezing cold. The Vostro 1000 comes equipped with the following features:
- AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53 (1.7GHz/512KB)
- Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
- 15.4" Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display
- 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ
- 120GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
- 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double-layer DVD+R Write Capability, for Vista® OS
- ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (integrated)
- Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card
- 1 Year Dell Warranty
For those who prefer Windows XP over Windows Vista, you can also get the Vostro 1000 w/ Windows XP for the same price by clicking here.
There is no coupon required, just click on the link and check-out. When you check out and Dell asks you for a business name, enter anything you want. Most people just enter their name again. The Vostro 1000 completely blows away the Acer laptop that was offered at Circuit City yesterday. The Vostro 1000 is a very good laptop by itself; for this price, it’s exceptional.
Thanks for Visiting and Tell Your Friends!
P.S. Dont forget about how much $$$$$ you are saving by shopping online with gas at an average of $3.15 a gallon.
I am also waiting for the $399 Dell Vostro and it is 6:10am PST. I went to the Dell site and do see they have it offered for $429. I might just get it now instead of waiting too long and missing out like I did wed.
I was able to order two systems last nite. Received acknowledgement and confirmation right away.
If Dell offers a similar laptop, I recommend getting the XP version. Unless you have all new periphials, there are a lot of compatibility issues with Vista. Most Techies still prefer XP.
Good Luck on getting another bargain to all those who missed out on this one!
"We're sorry, but we are unable to process your request. The e-value code you entered is either incorrect, not eligible on the Dell Business website, or has expired."
1) When the deal will expire?
2) How much the low-end Vostro usually goes for?
I'd like to wait until this weekend to buy, but Dell deals usually expire either by some date certain, or else after a fixed number of purchases (say, 1000 uses only).
Anyone know?
Optical Drive selected only supports Windows® Vista Home Basic or Business Operating System.
Seems kind of weird.
Just switch your dvd option to 8X DVD+/-RW with Double-layer DVD+R Write Capability and it will work for you.

When it prompts you for a business name, just make one up or type in your own name.

I couldn't get the link to work either. I had to go straight to the Dell website.
http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20070823/new-dell-vostra-line-misses-mark-in-aim-for-tiny-businesses/)
and conluded: "Overall, the Vostro 1500 is just an OK laptop, which isn’t different enough from consumer models to really earn the small-business designation it claims."
He had a Vostro 1500, not the 1000 of this sale, and noted that it did NOT come with a dial-up modem, that it weighed in at over 7#, and that pricing for the 1500 started at $549.
Also, wikipedia has a complete list of the Vostro line's specs. Google vostro wiki to get it.
For the record this is the best deal on an online laptop I have seen yet!
