Guide to Shopping Online this Black Friday

Over the past couple years, retailers have begun to offer their Black Friday sales online in addition to their traditional in-store Black Friday sales.

Because many deals can be found online, BFAds has a portion of our site dedicated to covering online Pre-Black Friday, Thanksgiving Day, and Black Friday sales.

In addition to our daily update news updates, we have our Online Deals page (indicated by 1 in the graphic) which is where we list products that are currently priced at or below their Black Friday prices and available for purchase online right now.

We also have a portion of our left navigation side-bar (indicated by 2 in the graphic) called Online Sales where we have the item listings for a variety of retailers offering online Black Friday sales.

Finally, if you are browsing a store's in-store Black Friday advertisement listing and come across a price in green text that says BUY NOW, it means that the item is currently available on the retailer's online site for the same price as their Black Friday ad (all of these items appear on the aforementioned Online Sales page).

There are many advantages to shopping online this Black Friday: most retailers are offering free shipping with orders, some offer no sales tax for most states (Amazon especially), no waiting in lines on a cold November morning, larger supply of items and no regional-based pricing.

Thanks for Visiting and Tell Your Friends!

Last year I bought something online-- one of those digital picture frames-- from Best Buy and I got an email about a week later that they were out of stock and wouldn't be back-ordering or anything. So I didn't get the digital picture frame I had hoped for. Later I went to look at digital picture frames more closely at the store and I realized the one I'd ordered would have been crummy anyway, but still, it was disappointing. So, just be aware that could happen to you too, so you might want to have a back up plan if the online store does run out of your item.

Good advice about always having a backup! Be ready to go to the store early early if it is something you really want and cannot get it online.

Just a note to all...
I keep reading that Amazon does not charge sales tax. That is not always true! I am charged sales tax when I make a purchase thru Amazon. I am sure it depends on which state you live in. I am in NY...
I bought a Wii thru the Amazon when I saw it posted in BFA that they were available and that although it was a typical selling price, there would be no sales tax. I was dissapointed to find out that this was not the case for me. I got it anyway because I did not want to be hunting one down this year, but I was dissapointed that I did not luck out with that extra savings.

I got screwed on this by Staples last year as well. Several calls and a round through BBB resulted in nothing but disappointment. If it is not in your hands, don't count on getting it.
