The Dell Studio 17 shouldn't even be viewed as a laptop, but more as a desktop replacement, as it features a 17" display and the weight of the laptop alone begins at 8lbs. Throw in any accessories and the power transformer and the Studio 17 is going not going to be something fun to carry around. The HP Pavilion dv5-1150us may not seem that impressive in its specifications, but the Intel Core2Duo P7350 is based off the new 45nm Intel Centrino 2 technology, which will allow the dv5-1150us to run both cooler and consume less power compared to the T5800/5900.
