Walmart is bringing back the staggered three-event structure this year, with the first round of Black Friday sales at 6pm on Thanksgiving Day, and the second round of doorbusters set to begin two hours later at 8pm.
The final, third event starts Friday morning at 8am and lasts all weekend long.
Also returning for a second year is the Walmart "1 Hour In-Stock Guarantee" on a sizable assortment of doorbuster items (up from only 3 offered last year). The guarantee states that the designated items will remain in-stock and available for purchase within 1 hour of their associated event start. If any of the items sells out, you can purchase a "Guarantee Card" which will ensure that you will get the item before Christmas at the advertised Black Friday price.
We have listed a handful of the qualifying items below:
Target will be kicking off their Black Friday sale at 8pm Thanksgiving night with deals on hundreds of spectacular doorbusters! Interestingly enough, we could not find when the doorbuster pricing ends, only noting that page 36 says the sale prices are good through Sunday, November 30.
At first glance, this is a very impressive ad. Certainly the most impressive one we've seen thus far and a real contender for ad of the year. We've highlighted just a couple of the many great deals below:
Kohl's Black Friday in-store sale starts at 8:00pm Thanksgiving night with doorbuster specials available until 1pm Friday.
Kohl's online Black Friday sale, however, starts "now" and lasts through 3pm CST on Black Friday. Last year Kohl's started their online sale first thing Wednesday morning at 12:01am CST - one full day before Thanksgiving - so we're expecting that "now" means sometime Wednesday or Thursday (whenever one would traditionally receive the newspaper ads).
And back for another year is the $15 Kohl's Cash for every $50 spent promotion with no earning limits! Shoppers can earn Kohl's cash both in-store and online from Tuesday, November 26 through Sunday, December 1. The Kohl's cash is then redeemable between December 2 (Cyber Monday) and December 7.
We're not sure who/why these retailers all thought it would be a great idea to release their ads in the dead of the night, but we're certainly glad that we decided to stay up tonight!
Sam's Club's Black Friday sale starts at 7am on Friday, making it another store that chooses to remain closed on Thanksgiving. The ad seems to be fairly tech-focused, with deals on TVs, headphones and gaming systems.
In addition to these three doorbuster sales, there is a separate 3-day Thursday, Friday and Saturday overarching sale valid in tandem with all of the doorbuster sales!
Kmart has already announced their intention to stay open all night, but there are two weird dead zones in the middle of the sale (Thursday 5-7pm and Friday 3-6am). It's better than kicking people out like they did last year, but it's confusing why they didn't run the sales back-to-back-to-back.
Much like the Kmart Black Friday sale, OfficeMax is having three separate doorbuster specials. The first that begins at 8pm Thanksgiving night and runs until 2am Friday, another sale that starts 11pm Thanksgiving night and also ends at 2am Friday, and, finally, one last doorbuster special that begins at 5am Black Friday morning and lasts until noon Friday.
For those not wanting to venture in-store and fight the crowds, most of the advertised specials (excluding doorbusters) will be available for sale on OfficeMax.com starting at 12:01am EST first thing Thanksgiving morning.
Acting on their desire to become "the ultimate, one-stop destination for Black Friday shoppers," the Kohl's Black Friday sale will now include doorbuster deals on HDTVs along with the standard fare of apparel, toys, jewelry and more!
And returning for its once-a-year appearance is the $15 Kohl's Cash for every $50 spent promotion with no earning limits! Shoppers can earn Kohl's cash both in-store and online from Tuesday, November 26 through Sunday, December 1. The Kohl's cash will be redeemable shortly after the earning period ends.
Definitely a unique strategy from Kohl's to try and attract shoppers who would otherwise go to Target or Walmart, it'll be interesting to see how much pull (if any) the addition of these HDTVs and other consumer electronics have on shoppers.
Doors open at 8pm Thanksgiving night with doorbuster pricing live until 1pm on Black Friday.
Online shoppers can get an early jump on things as JC Penney will begin their online Black Friday sale first thing Thanksgiving morning with free shipping on all orders of $49 or more (valid Thursday - Monday).
As was previously announced, the free Disney snow globes are back and will be handed out to shoppers starting at 4am Friday (eight hours into their Black Friday sale). Unfortunately, last year's buttons do not appear to be returning this Black Friday.
The item titles are purposely vague, but if the Kindle Fire is the 2012 HD 16GB edition, Staples will have beaten Best Buy's doorbuster price by $20.
Staples also announced their plans to have a full week of Black Friday savings starting Sunday, November 24, but notes that the four aforementioned items will only become available starting Thanksgiving Day.
