Walmart's November 7th Saturday Sale

Walmart is at it again, except this time they're not necessarily marketing it as a "Pre-Black Friday Sale." This Saturday, November 7th, starting at 8:00am, Walmart will be having an exclusive 6-item sale of the following products:

The Xbox 360, HP Laptop and Sony Blu-Ray player all have a guaranteed minimum of 10 per store. Below we have provided a bit of insight about the deals available.

Xbox 360 Arcade Console w/ $100 Walmart Gift-Card
The Xbox 360 deal is VERY HOT. If you are in the market for an Xbox 360 console, this is the absolute best deal we've ever seen.

The Xbox 360 comes in two varieties: Arcade ($199) and Elite ($299). Compared to the Elite, the Arcade version lacks the 120GB hard-drive and headset. We normally recommend the Elite over the Arcade because the aforementioned components cost more than $100 if purchased separately.

However, it's a whole different ballgame with the $100 gift-card being offered by Walmart. If you use the $100 Walmart gift-card, you are essentially getting the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $100. You can purchase a 20GB Hard-Drive and Headset for $50 at Buy.com and a 6' HDMI cable for $5 at Monoprice bringing the price of your total Xbox purchase to around $160: less than the original cost of the Xbox 360 Arcade itself.

I have an Xbox 360 w/ 20GB hard-drive and it is more than enough space for me. Only the hard-core gamers really require the 120GB hard-drive. Even so, if you want the hard-drive, it's only $135 at Walmart.com, which is still around $60 cheaper than the price of an Xbox Elite console.

HP G60-W519WM Laptop for $298
Very little is known about the G60-W519WM laptop because this laptop was made especially for Walmart (hence the WM in the model number). Luckily, some sleuths at SD found out the technical specifications for the laptop, listed below:

  • Intel Celeron 900 (2.2GHz, 1MB cache, 800MHz FSB)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 3072MB DDR2 System Memory
  • 250GB(5400rpm) Hard Drive
  • 802.11b/g WLAN
  • LightScribe SuperMulti 8x DVD +-R/RW Drive w/Double Layer Support
  • 15.6" Diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView display
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M with up to 1309MB total available memory
  • 3 USB 2.0 Ports

This is, by no means, a powerhouse of a laptop. We generally try to stay away from hindered, budget processors like the Celeron, but for $300 you can't really go that wrong. If you're on the fence about this laptop, I'd personally skip it and hope for better deals in the future.

Walmart currently has the Acer 15.6" AS5534-1096 Laptop PC with AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core Processor & Windows 7 Home Premium for $348 in this week's advertisement, so the chance of a similar or better $300 laptop appearing in a Black Friday advertisement is pretty likely.

Update: Ronald sent in a tip that BestBuy also has similar laptop for $329 on ad this week. The $300 Walmart laptop is a bit better, but it appears that the $300 laptop is a pretty common occurrence.

Panasonic TC-P46U1 46" 1080p Plasma HDTV - $788
The advertised price for the TC-P46U1 is $1200, however it appears to be a discontinued model. TigerDirect had the television on sale for $899 shipped earlier this month, representing only a $100 savings.

Sharp LCD TV, Magnavox DVD & Sony Blu-Ray Players
Walmart is currently offering the Sharp LC42SB45UT 42" 1080p LCD HDTV for $498, but it appears you can only purchase it in stores.

Update: Now that Walmart has published their November 7th sale on their website, we have learned the model numbers of both the Magnavox DVD player and the Sony Blu-Ray player. Unfortunately, a quick search reveals that both players are selling for around their normal retail price and aren't nearly the deal the Xbox 360 is.

We're still holding our breath for the first $100 Blu-Ray player.

At the time, we could not find any additional information on the Magnavox DVD player or the Sony Blu-Ray player, but when we do, we will keep you updated!

Thanks for Visiting and Tell Your Friends!

Just going by the model number, the $298 laptop should be similar to the $300 one that was offered last year by Best Buy. I bought the G50 last year and it performed great, everything I could ask for from a mid-performance machine.
The G60 here looks even better with added number pad, larger screen, larger HD, more RAM, and Win7.

I admit that I would much prefer a Sony or other well known brand for the Blu Ray player, but it should be noted that Best Buy had the Insignia Blu Ray player for $99 last week. It would be a safe bet that we will be seeing that price more frequently on hi-def players this season.

You can get the Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player for $148.97 from Video & Audio Center through Amazon.com or $151.93 directly from Amazon.com with free shipping & no tax from either company.

With a limited number available, how do you get one of these when people will show up at 2 a.m. and put one in their cart and wait until 8 a.m. to check out? Some of us have a life (or need at least some sleep.
corlip at 11/04/09 01:42pm
anyone know how walmart intends to work this sale. all of the walmarts by me open at 7 AM, but the sale does not start till 8. How do they normally work sales at their 24 hour stores? Are they going to do something similar here?
ap1114 at 11/04/09 02:20pm
Last year I showed up at my walmart that opens at 7AM, I walked in to the electronics section and asked for the lapetop. They then gave me a sticky note with a number on it and when 8 AM rolled around they started calling the numbers of people's sticky notes and they gave them the laptop and started checking them out. At the store I went to, they did not have the items out, they were in the back and they gave out tickets with numbers so their wouldn't be a free for all. Good Luck!

I wonder if my Walmart would actually tell me how they will be dispensing the Xbox360's that morning... We really need a new one. I am SO sick of my 11 year old son having meltdowns because his games won't play! The new Dragon Age game I bought him yesterday kept comming up "Play DVD". So... this deal is PERFECT because we already have the hard drive, I just need a new console! But I don't want to have to get there a midnight and put one in my cart and wait for 8 hours... I want to show up at 6 or 7, lol.

Looks like you're missing the 52" sharp 120hz lcd. should be less that $900

The lesson of this gen is not to trust MS hardware.

I agree unusualpsycho. I had the dumb-luck of getting one of these this past weekend when I needed to replace a DVD player that died. I was just gonna get an upscaler, but they had the $99 insignia, and so I opted for that instead. Worth mentioning that the insignia also supports the Netflix streaming. I haven't yet setup an account to try that out, but I'm quite pleased with the player for DVD and BR playback. It's a basic model and has its limits, but sub-$100 is definitely here.

beta_t at 11/05/09 01:16am
Each store is different. Last year my brother got the laptop and I got the 46 inch 1080P LCD. We both went to 24 hour walmarts at different locatons. When we walked in we showed them a print of from the net and they directed us to the correct dept. At mine all electronics was going to be handed out in the Game Systems / tv sections. They had a line for each product, thus you couldn't stand in line for more than one product unless you had other people with you to stand in the other lines.

Got there for 6:00 AM and was 3rd in line for the tv. My brother arrived at his store at 6:30 Am and was 10th in line for the laptop. We each got what we went for.

It been a year and he still loves his laptop and I still love my tv, I haven't seen one with the same or better features for that price point yet. Same with his laptop.

Its not the most powerful laptop but more than good enough for email, internet, facebook, etc. which is what he uses it for. If you want to run a lot of powerful apps or lots of heavy multimedia I wouldn't get it. But if you just want to stay connected to the internet while out and about (its cheaper than most netbooks) or have spare one in the home when the other is being used than its perfect!

Hope this helps everyone

I have a question, I am not very familiar with the XBOX 360 but I know that you can stream netflix movies to them, does this particular console allow for that or is it only certain ones. We had been looking at getting an XBOX and the steaming feature was a plus, but wasn't sure if all models do it. Thanks

Netflix is good with any xbox, you just have to be an Xbox Live Gold member, if I remember correctly, and of course an internet connection...

on a separate note, I noticed online that the $100 gift card is an EGIFT Card, good online only....Is this true even if you buy it in store?
scorpiorc at 11/05/09 12:29pm
It says on Walmart.com that the eCard is "For purchases at Walmart.com. For purchases by SAM'S Club members at Samsclub.com. Cannot be used at Wal-Mart stores or at SAM'S Club stores." Where you purchase the XBox 360 (online or in-store) doesn't matter.
beta_t at 11/05/09 07:25pm
Just as an FYI if you go to the Netflix website and you will see you can also do this with playstation also now. I called nextflix to acquire about Wii and they said they are considering it, they are waiting to see how the playstation thing works out before adding any others like Wii. Apparently the Xbox's are built with a special code required but the playstation owners will have to run a special Blue Ray DVD to get the codes needed... wii isn't blu ray capable so the engineers are trying to figure that out as well... just thought I pass it on for wii folks.

So, can you get the xbox360 deal online and in-store or just in-store?
akchowdary at 11/06/09 08:49pm
Hi All,

I'm planning to go at 1 AM for laptop and wait at store. How big the crowd will be? do you suggest to go that much early?

Thanks
scorpiorc at 11/06/09 09:02pm
mpuckly...it says right on the ad above "not valid in Puerto Rico or on Walmart.com".
YUP1234 at 11/06/09 11:06pm
Friend works at BBY and said they are running one day only deals Saturday as a reaction to this ad. A 50" Panny for like $690 I believe? A laptop close to that price point with AMD as opposed to celeron, and they will be matching the XBOX deal case by case, "while supplies last" at local wal marts. Not sure if it's regional to where he is or if this is a national thing...I assume it has to be national.
YUP1234 at 11/06/09 11:08pm
And they will have that Sony Blu Ray for the same price, plus a samsung for the same price too...I think
camcclusky at 11/07/09 09:04am
I went to Walmart this morning and I purchased the Xbox360 this morning for my son. Turned around and used the gift card and bought my daughter the WII system. I think it was a fantastic deal!!!
chowder at 11/07/09 10:26am
Hmmm...I went to walmart at 8:40. They had about 15 laptops left and about 7 XBox 360's and NO line. I was surprised. I am happy I decided to go and check it out even though I was late!
coren at 11/07/09 01:43pm
Far as I can tell, the deals aren't online - all the ones I've gone to for Walmart say store only.

And BBY's price match on the 360 is bs, because they open 2 hours later than the sale starts. By then almost all of the consoles will be sold out, if not all.

Walmart here in Florida are open 24 hours. I showed up at my local Walmart in Clearwater, Fl at 6 am thinking & hoping that many people did not see the ad or email or hoping that there would be enough for all. When I arrived there was a line of weary people. The sales girl told me there was a family that got there at 11 pm the night before. They took turns going to the bathroom, etc all night. They only had 12 per store so she told me that I would not be getting one. She was very gracious and tried to call other stores for me. Her suggestion was to drive 1/2 hour to a Walmart Oldsmar Superstore. I followed her advice and then stood in line for over an hour & half. (Flashbacks of other BF when I waited for hours and then college students stormed the front of the line, receiving tickets to purchase when the store opened up - they turned around and started offering the tickets for $cash money - this took place at Circuit City in Clearwater, Fl last eyar and now they are out of business)
At Walmart I was number 35 and heard that they had 40 - so it was worth the wait. You start to bond with the people who are in line with you.
The Superstore had plenty for all
At 8 am some yelled Whoowho! and then the orderly prgression took place. They were prepared for the crowds and they did a great job. One per person but I did see some go back in line for another one.
I heard that they had 100 total.Great job Walmart well planned and well executed!
sharhoek at 11/08/09 09:35pm
THANK YOU BFAds email!!!!!!!!!!!! About 1 minute after your email came in about the X-Box 360, I went on line and ordered one!!!! No lines, no waiting, no disappointing Amazon challenges...AND within 1 hour I had the $100 gift card for online purchases! Your emails ROCK!!!!! I have a yearly tradition to go wait all night at stores, but these deals are incredible. I am sure there will be glitches...there always are...but what do people expect for convenience? Thank you again BFAds! Here's to a great season! :-)
Neverquitsworkin at 11/09/09 09:43am
Everyone in our little town Walmart had no problem getting their laptops. They had 30 and several of us were trying to get 2. When I was done, there were still 14 left and only 4 people behind me in line. I was tempted to go out to the car and come back in again and get 2 more, just because hardly anyone in our town seemed to know about it.

They sent us to the jewelry department and though the store opened at 7 a.m., they didn't start checking people out until 8 a.m. However, it didn't take long. Everything went smoothly. It was terrific.
Super_mom34 at 11/11/09 02:05pm
I was the 1st in line for the XBox 360 @ my local Wal-Mart. Even though they expected a truck w/6 more systems they had 2 on hand and the truck had not arrived. The manager was great. Told us where to line up, came back out to announce the truck would be late.
The line was longer for the laptops. I do believe there was enough for every one in line.
Heads up - I called 2 local WM stores prior to Sat. to check on the # of Xboxes available. The associates told me the number on hand as well as how many they new for sure would be coming in. Folks don't hesitate to call for info. That's what their there for.
dallascain311 at 11/19/09 02:21pm
Walmart Sucks!!!! I bought the Xbox 360 the day of the sale. When I finally got around to looking at it (present for daughter) I noticed that it actually came with 256mb instead of the 512mb memory advertised. I called Walmart to verify that I could exchange it and was told by a manager that "The online ad is not what they advertise in the store. The in store sale consisted of the 256 and the online was the 512. They do not carry the 512 in store. The online site is different then the in store pricing." This is even after I explained that the online sale from above specifically states not valid in Puerto Rico or Walmart.com. They would not help at all. This is BS!!!
